This morning Chad and I decided to go out for breakfast. We always hesitate to eat out for breakfast because most places are pretty gross. So we went to Salt's Cure which was highly recommended. You may think that it's nothing new, yes its bacon, eggs and sausage, but its not just any bacon, eggs and sausage. The bacon and sausage are made on the premises. The eggs are farmers market eggs with the rich, dark yolks. Chad had the Duck Hash, with a Hollendaise sauce. My meal was the 2x2x2 (2 bacon strips, sausage patties and eggs) with homemade biscuits and apple sauce. The quality of the ingredients are superb. The thinly sliced house made cured ham topped with honey and lightly toasted walnuts was phenomenal. We ordered the French Press Coffee, and they brought it out with homemade brown sugar and cream. All and all the best breakfast I have ever had, and it will be Chad and my Sunday morning tradition from now on.
For my 30th Birthday Chad surprised me and booked us a flight to San Francisco for a dinner reservation he made at Quince. Quince is one of Chad's favorite restaurants in the country. We were always trying to find time to go, so instead we made time. Quince is the restaurant of the highly regarded chef/owner Michael Tusk. The restaurant's cuisine is California cuisine with Italian and French techniques and influences. Chad staged at Quince about 4 years ago for two weeks and was blown away by the food of chef Michael Tusk. We had multiple courses with wine pairings and they were all perfection. The subtle flavors of the ingredients combined in each dish were genial!
